Fans of shooters with a lot of action will love the fact that Mothergunship doesn’t waste their time. From the get-go, you are placed into an environment filled with high-paced action. This game is an homage to those classic FPS games we know and love, such as Doom.
Save the Earth from Aliens!
You will assume a role in a gang of space soldiers in sleek-looking power suits. Your leader is simply known as The Colonel and together you have the task of stopping the aliens from invading the Earth. The plotline is a cliché that you may not be thrilled with, but it is the gameplay that pulls this game forward. At some points, you will laugh at the voiceovers, but you shouldn’t expect anything too complex.
Players start from the headquarters of the gang where they get to pick out the next mission. Aside from playing regular levels, you can also expect bonus quests that offer special rewards. Each mission is similar at its essence since you will be put in the same area as a bunch of alien robots. You can use an incredible array of weapons to kill them and earn experience and money that you can use for upgrading later. The levels will always be different, although the dungeons themselves have only three different forms.
Craft Your Own Weapons
Aside from regular rooms, there will also be special challenge areas. These will bring extra benefit to your character, but you will be handicapped on your way to finding the exit. The action is non-stop which means that you do not get a second of rest while playing. You can utilize your power suits for plenty of cool moves, such as staying in the air for a long time. The choice of weapons and upgrades is massive, which will give you plenty of options to attack the aliens.
Mothergunship offers you the opportunity to craft your own weapons. You can also modify the existing firearms to increase their firing rate and make it easier to kill everything in your sight. Keep in mind that having a rapid-firing weapon can sometimes result in spending all bullets quickly, which will leave you vulnerable while waiting for the reload. Just as the story isn’t anything special, you can expect the same with the ending. If there is any consolation, finishing the game for the first time will unlock a set of bonus missions with extra complex objectives.
