In case you didn’t know, Frontier Developments created the Rollercoaster Tycoon franchise. As soon as I saw the name of the developer, I knew that we can expect a theme park simulator from Jurassic World Evolution and it turns out to be a great game!
Can the Island of Five Deaths Become a Tourist Attraction?
There is no real story behind Jurassic World Evolution. Your goal is to head for the Islands of Five Deaths and turn them into a tourist attraction. Although there is no plot, you will recognize a lot of licensed material from the movies, including the brilliant Jeff Goldblum who is the narrator.
You will have five theme parks to build (one on each island), but things will start slowly. The first level is the Isla Matanceros, which you can consider a tutorial. You will need to form teams for exploration that will look for fossils and then construct a Fossil Centre to look for any DNA in them. Once you have enough genome, you can make your own dinosaur and let it into the park.
Can You Make it on the Island of Death?
There is a five-star rating in each level and your goal is to strive for the highest score, although the game will let you pass to the next stage even if you have three stars (in most cases). Isla Matanceros is easy to play, but things get tricky as soon as you move to the second island. It seems like it is pun-intended to name it Isla Muerta (the Island of Death). Many things can go wrong here, starting from storms that can destroy fences and power stations, up to financial problems that may keep you from building the desired constructions. Fortunately, Jurassic World Evolution allows you to move from one island to another and you can share fossils so that you can get at least a small financial boost whenever you need it. You will also get special offers from time to time and earn extra money if you can complete them.
Make Sure No One Gets Jealous
There are three separate divisions you will need to take care of – entertainment, science, and security. The problem is that you can’t focus on a single department too much as it can cause jealousy and subsequently sabotage from other divisions.
Graphics are pleasing to the eye and the animation of dinosaurs is smooth and detailed. There are plenty of different species and you need to watch to smartly spread them across the park or they might fight. In other situations, they will use the opportunity to run. This brings an interesting situation as you can take over the helicopter and capture them by firing tranquilizers. Sound plays a vital role in this type of game and I am glad to say that everything was done properly in this area, too.
